International Pop Overthrow is a music festival that Deep Cricket Night was performing at. They asked me to create a poster that promoted both the event and the band together.

I drew the focal image by hand, a large cricket set against the venue location, then brought it into Photoshop and colorized it using layers to give it a bold, vibrant quality that worked for event promotion across print and digital formats.

After the poster was finished the band came back with a new idea: could the artwork become an animation? I said yes and figured it out. I cut the original drawing into pieces in Photoshop and used those elements to animate them in Adobe Animate. To build out the concept I created several additional music venue drawings so the giant cricket could travel from location to location, visiting each venue in sequence. The result was a promotional animation used across social media and event marketing that took the original poster art and turned it into something that moved and told a story.
